Volunteers help keep the farm going–join us for a hands-on learning/growing experience! There is something for almost everyone, regardless of age, experience, or interests. However, you must read and agree to honor our Policies and other farm rules and guidelines. To better understand these policies in action, check out our blog, Reports from the Farm – especially entries for the time of year you expect to participate. I hope to resume posting there more frequently…somehow Facebook took over….

Volunteer efforts are rewarded in many ways. You’re part of helping the environment. You learn things hands-on and practice new skills. You get healthy exercise. You see amazing natural phenomena. One of our mottoes is “feed the workers” – you get fresh vegetables, lamb, and other farm products for your household. Depending on the schedule, you’ll be invited to join meals or snacks. You become part of the Pinwheel Farm Community of Life.

In the past, we’ve worked with Growing Growers and with WWOOF to offer planned volunteer experiences. As I return to farming as my main focus, after a number of years of the farm being on the back burner, I am still exploring how these programs might work for us in the future. Meanwhile, reach out to Natalya about more informal arrangements.

In the past, we have shared our wonderful soil with other gardeners, either for market production or for family use. This is an option going forward, as well. Winter is the time to plan co-gardening with us, or renting a corner of Pinwheel Farm for your own use. Enterprise/resource sharing opportunities are also available with poultry production (broilers, anyone?) and with the sheep.
